Diving & Naui

NAUI, The National Association of Underwater Instructors, was founded by Al Tillman and Bev Morgan in 1959.  NAUI Worldwide is the oldest international not-for-profit membership training agency and is the second largest training agency in the world. and throughout its existence, has continually maintained its position at the forefront of diving education.   NAUI sanctioned Nitrox training in 1992 - the first recreational training agency to do so - continuing to innovate in support of its members and in the interest of diving safety. In early 1997, in keeping with NAUI’s founding principles, NAUI published standards for teaching technical diving, a practice that had been growing among NAUI members for several years.

Captain Jacques Coustea, the inventor of the aqualung, was on the board of advisors of NAUI, as was actor Lloyd Bridges.  His character, Mike Nelson, in the T.V series "Sea Hunt", popularised scuba diving on a mass basis in America.  Buster Crabbe, the famous Olympic swimmer and movie star, was a NAUI instructor.  Other famous modern day NAUI Certified divers include actors Kevin Costner, Lou Gosset Jr., actress Cameron Diaz and  one of the most well known golfers, Tiger Woods, is a NAUI divemaster.

Many organizations specifically choose NAUI for their diver education programs -i ncluding Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, the United States Navy SEAL Teams and the US Special Forces and NASA’s Astronauts are all NAUI qualified Divers...Most of the top Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology in the United States also certify their students through NAUI,
