Scuba is an acronym for “Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus”. This is the term given to equipment used by divers to allow them to stay underwater for periods greater than the average individual can hold their breath. “Scuba”, less often described as “open circuit” equipment, has allowed divers to dive freely without the need for air tenders attached to ships and boats and has now further evolved into closed circuit or rebreathers.
It doesn’t matter whether you use an open or closed circuit system, compressed air or Nitrox for scuba diving, what does matter is that the training you have enables you to dive safely and effectively. We and NAUI aim to ensure that you do just that
